Paul Irvine  // Honours Student 2024

Paul Irvine is a photographer originally from Aberdeen. After spending over forty years in the Oil and Gas industry he decided to focus on a new occupation. Paul has spent the last four years training and improving his skills as a photographer through college and university courses and now takes images of different genres of photography, but his main interests are in portrait and landscape photography.

Influenced by photographers such as Ernest Haas, Peter Hurley and Allan Sekula, who cover abstract, portraiture and social interaction landscape photography.

“Intentional Landscape” the most recent body of Paul’s work, these images can be interpreted through feelings and memories by people when looking at them with each person having their own opinion, this is a style of photography that originated from the early 1960’s.

These images are made by the intentional movement of the camera, this project is one of the range of projects shown in this year’s collection. Other bodies of photography work shown are based on stylisation of landscape creativity and a view of fashion portraiture.
